The Wastewater Operator role involves daily operations and maintenance of two Wastewater Treatment Facilities under the guidance of the Project Manager and Chief Operator. Requirements

  • High School Degree or Equivalent.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License required.
  • Must possess a valid State of Florida Class "C" or higher Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators license.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in process control.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.

Nice To Haves

  • A dual certification in Water and Wastewater will be an added benefit for qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor wastewater treatment plant processes and equipment manually and via SCADA, making necessary adjustments.
  • Perform water quality sampling, testing, and analysis to ensure compliance with federal, state, and EPA standards.
  • Operate, maintain, control, and perform routine repairs on plant equipment, including preventive maintenance.
  • Utilize software for maintenance work orders and maintain all necessary records.
  • Perform general maintenance duties of the plant and other assigned tasks.
  • Monitor and evaluate the operations of medium, complex wastewater treatment facilities and auxiliary systems, maintaining plant logs.
  • Review trends, records, and reports to ensure adherence to proper procedures and standards; collect and tabulate operational log data for regulatory agencies.
  • Recognize and address deviations or irregularities in plant operation and maintenance, adjusting processes and equipment to meet required quality standards.
  • Sample, measure, and test plant values (e.g., pH, chlorine residuals, temperature, levels), make corrections, and collect samples for analysis.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff on specific projects; adjust or bypass job-specific areas, processes, or equipment to ensure consistent water production, plant integrity, and safety.
  • Test, monitor, record, evaluate, troubleshoot, and adjust the operation of plant emergency generators and auxiliary equipment.
  • Assist contractors and consultants with specific tasks.
  • Assist in preparing standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee plant operations to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, County, and City regulations and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
  • Work around high voltage, rotating equipment, and various hazardous chemicals.
  • Perform related work as required.
