About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Wastewater Operator IV to join their Facilities Maintenance team. This role involves monitoring, adjusting, and cleaning process treatment equipment, conducting lab testing, performing general maintenance, safely handling chemicals and waste streams, and general housekeeping. The operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining an industrial wastewater treatment plant, following standard operating procedures, participating in audits, cleaning filters, running the press, monitoring system diagnostics and alarms, managing chemical levels, cleaning oil drums, and operating a drum crushing machine. Collaboration with maintenance personnel is key to ensuring the pre-treatment system is well-maintained. The position requires adherence to procedures for cleaning, equipment use, maintenance, calibration, and chemical handling. Sample collection and in-plant testing are crucial for process control and monitoring. The role also includes performing in-plant maintenance such as cleaning, servicing, lubricating, and repairing equipment, analyzing and resolving work problems, understanding and enforcing company policies and safety regulations, and demonstrating attention to detail, comprehensive and analytical skills, and excellent organizational skills. The operator must maintain a strict schedule while remaining flexible for customer needs. Other duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Four years of experience as a Wastewater Treatment Operator in water/wastewater treatment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Requires a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when required.
  • May be required to work holidays & weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains industrial wastewater Treatment Plant.
  • Follow wastewater treatment manual/SoP activities as documented.
  • Participate in internal audits and inspections as required
  • Clean out filters when necessary.
  • Run the press when necessary.
  • Monitor alarms, data dashboard and other diagnostics to ensure the system is running properly and take action to correct inconsistencies when necessary.
  • Monitor chemical levels in the chemical holding room.
  • Clean out used oil drums and operate the drum crushing machine.
  • Work closely with maintenance personnel to ensure the wastewater pre-treatment system is well maintained.
  • Follows procedures regarding cleaning, equipment uses, maintenance, calibration, and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Collects samples and conducts the in-plant tests necessary to control and monitor treatment facility processes and operation
  • Performs in-plant operational control tests and process calculations, using various analytical instruments and mathematical calculations.
  • Records in-plant test results, various meter readings, gauge reading, flow quantities and other technical data.
  • Performs in-plant maintenance according to the schedules and procedures established for the facilities to which assigned. This includes cleaning, servicing, lubricating, and repairing pumps, chemical feed equipment, electrical/ mechanical devices regularly found in water, wastewater, and industrial wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
  • Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, good comprehensive and analytical skills, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Maintains a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
