About The Position

The Wastewater Operations Supervisor leads the daily operations of the City’s wastewater treatment plant, ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient, high-quality treatment processes. This role oversees staff, plant performance, and operational systems to meet State and Federal standards.

Requirements

Four (4) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of water systems and facilities.
High School Diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by specialized training in chemistry, environmental biology, construction technology or a related field.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.
Possession of a valid Class A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the State of Colorado.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, the City of Grand Junction Leadership Track certification within two (2) years of appointment.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise wastewater operations staff, including work planning, training, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
Oversee wastewater treatment plant operations, ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations and maintaining effluent quality standards.
Evaluate plant performance and operational data, identifying issues and implementing process improvements to optimize efficiency.
Direct mechanical and biological treatment processes, ensuring systems operate effectively and within required guidelines.
Develop and manage plant sampling programs, including scheduling and performance testing activities.
Support budget development and administration, including forecasting needs and monitoring expenditures.
Maintain accurate records and prepare technical reports, ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance.
