About The Position

The Arizona State Parks and Trails (ASPT) is seeking a Wastewater Facilities Operator 2 for Patagonia Lake State Park. This role is responsible for the operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with ADEQ requirements. The position also involves supervising park staff, preparing regulatory documents, and training personnel. The goal is to connect people with Arizona's outdoors and history, fostering memorable experiences.

Requirements

  • Possess and maintain Level 2 Certification from ADEQ in Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Water distribution, and Wastewater Collections.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
  • Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in a water plant to include work with water treatment, distribution and wastewater based operation with time as a lead or supervisor.
  • Demonstrated experience and operational acumen in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Any combination of training and experience that meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs); typical ways KSAs are obtained may include but are not limited to: relevant degree from an accredited college or university, coursework and work experience relevant to assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct operations and supervision for daily park operations specializing in water/wastewater plant operations.
  • Ensure that state park operations safely provide the needed potable water for operations in accordance with all applicable regulations and report to the Park Manager regarding all functions and activities.
  • Perform and conduct all necessary functions of daily waste water treatment to stay within regulatory compliance.
  • Operate valves, pumps, control panels and necessary plant equipment.
  • Understand and operate SCADA systems for pump controls and plant process monitoring.
  • Maintain equipment and repair or replace basic equipment in the operations of treatment facilities.
  • Handle appropriate chemicals necessary for disinfection and treatment of WT & WWT.
  • Conduct and coordinate all testing and record keeping activities, submit all necessary reports and paperwork needed to keep the park operation in good standing and compliant.
  • Address all repairs and deficiencies of the system in a timely manner.
  • Conduct dam safety inspections and operations in support of Patagonia Lake State Park.
  • Assist nearby park operations in the same capacity.
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of daily field staff.
  • Assist in administrative and supervisory responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain Water and Wastewater Park SOP's and current with best practices and regulations from state (ADEQ, ADWR, AWWA) and federal (NPDES) agencies and associations.
  • Maintain needed inventory of materials and supplies related to the water and waste water operations.
  • Coordinate with Park Manager to balance daily staffing allocation to accommodate facility wide needs across a spectrum of tasks including staff and volunteer supervision, customer service, janitorial, landscaping, building and equipment maintenance.
