About The Position

The job of Waste Water Technician was established for the purpose of assisting in monitoring the waste water treatment systems to maintain permitted discharge requirements to the District (O.C.S.D.) wastewater plant. Physically the operator controls system with flow valves, Ph and ORP meters, collects samples for lab analyses, reads meters and records daily activities within waste treatment and chemical storage areas. Operator inspects records, observes conditions, determines that systems are working effectively and communicates to his supervisor any necessary maintenance and facility needs to assure continued effective operation. The operator also has an obligation to understand why the treatment system, “Environmentally”, is vital to the welfare of the community.

Requirements

  • Good oral and written communication skills, must speak, read, and write English.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
  • Some climbing and balancing.
  • Some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1-year experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Attend yearly Hazard Communication classes, and fully comprehend the HMIS System and MSDS’s.
  • Complete OSHA 40 hour Class for Haz-Mat Safety and Spill Response.
  • Clarifier Maintenance for continues efficiency of metal removal and flow rate.
  • Be physically fit and trained for use of Air Respirators.
  • Batch Treatment process chemistry for metal removal and Ph.
  • Operate Filter Press for dewatering sludge waste (F006) from PBR Treatment Systems.
  • Overall responsibility for organizing and cleanliness of treatment areas.
  • Operate Forklift after attending “Forklift Safety” class.
  • Maintain RCRA and CA DTSC Haz-Waste regulatory compliance.
  • Work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods: leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others.
  • Utilization of some resources from other departments may be required to perform the job’s functions.
  • Comply with TTM Export Control Policies and Procedures and all applicable laws including ITAR, EAR and OFAC.
