About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining the waste storage area, the carts used to transport waste, and the overall upkeep of the waste treatment area. The Waste Transporter operates the Sanipac according to manufacturer's guidelines, runs biological monitoring weekly, and stores PIW (Potentially Infectious Waste) according to MMCI and DOT regulations. They must wear proper PPE, anticipate supply needs, and perform all duties assigned by Leads or Manager. The position requires resourcefulness and effectiveness in stressful situations, the ability to assess and adjust daily workflow, and full competency in MMCI and DOT regulations regarding PIW. Knowledge of equipment and chemicals used is also essential. The role involves maintaining the Sanipac and dock area in a clean and orderly manner, hosing down carts and Sanipac doors, and maintaining inventory of liners and deodorizing chemicals. Teamwork is crucial, involving supporting fellow employees, accepting changing conditions and new procedures, effective communication, and assisting other department staff. Adherence to all MMCI and EVS policies and procedures, maintaining an absent/tardy rate below 5%, and attending all inservices are also required.

Responsibilities

  • Operates Sanipac according to manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Runs biological monitoring each week.
  • Stores PIW according to MMCI and DOT regulations.
  • Wears proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Anticipates and informs Leads when supplies are needed.
  • Performs all duties assigned by Leads or Manager.
  • Assesses the daily work flow of the environment and make changes as necessary.
  • Operates/maintains Sanipac.
  • Fully competent in all MMCI and DOT regulations regarding PIW.
  • Maintains Sanipac in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Keeps dock area neat and hosed down.
  • Hoses carts clean and ensures they are free from squeaky wheels.
  • Cleans and maintains Sanipac doors.
  • Hoses out the area under Sanipac each day.
  • Maintains inventory on liners and deodorizing chemical for Sanipac.
  • Supports the efforts of fellow employees through teamwork.
  • Accepts changing conditions, new procedures and work directions from others.
  • Effectively communicates with staff within and outside the department.
  • Assists other department staff members by filling in or accepting additional work.
  • Displays name badge and wears appropriate uniform according to department policies.
  • Adheres to all MMCI and EVS policies and procedures.
  • Attends and is competent on all inservices.
