Our state-of-the-art facility in West Valley City, Utah produces radioisotopes quickly, efficiently, and affordably bringing critical resources to hospitals and cancer clinics worldwide and offering hope for a healthier tomorrow. We are seeking a motivated Waste Technician with experience or interest in hazardous or radioactive materials to join our onsite waste management team. In this role, you will work closely with radiation safety and production teams to support critical waste management functions. No direct radioactive waste experience? Training is available for the right candidate.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in industrial, environmental, lab, or regulated environments OR relevant coursework/training.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and detailed procedures.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, data entry, or similar systems).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hazardous, radioactive, or mixed waste.
  • Radiological Worker or similar certification.
  • Experience in manufacturing, lab, or nuclear environments.
  • Forklift or industrial equipment experience.
  • Experience working in controlled or hot cell environments.

Responsibilities

  • Collect waste from laboratories, production areas, and designated accumulation points; verify proper labeling and identification.
  • Assist with industrial, hazardous, radioactive, and mixed waste in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and company procedures.
  • Segregate, package, and prepare waste for storage, transport, and disposal.
  • Support waste processing activities including inspection, weighing, consolidation, and treatment methods such as neutralization or solidification.
  • Prepare and label waste shipments according to DOT and disposal facility requirements.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts and bridge cranes (training provided as needed).
  • Maintain accurate records in tracking systems and databases.
  • Inspect waste areas to ensure compliance and report any issues.
  • Assist with spill response and hazardous material incidents.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work and storage areas.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide basic waste handling guidance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
