Waste Services Collection Helper
About The Position
Interstate Waste Services (IWS) is seeking a dedicated Collection Helper to join their team. This role is crucial for providing solid waste and recycling services across Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, and New York City, with expanded operations in Pennsylvania and Ohio. IWS is committed to offering high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services while prioritizing employee, customer, and environmental safety. The Collection Helper will primarily be responsible for collecting and loading refuse from customer locations into a heavy-duty sanitation vehicle, working closely with drivers and supervisors.
Requirements
- Must include resumes/list of work history with employment dates to be considered for employment.
- Must meet physical standards as specified (constantly lift, push, and pull waste bags and receptacles that weigh approximately 50-75+ lbs.).
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Position requires a team-player attitude as job is spent in close quarters with other staff members that all rely on one another.
Nice To Haves
- Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Collect (primarily by hand) and load refuse from customer locations into a heavy-duty sanitation vehicle.
- Transfer refuse in a timely and safe manner from customer stops.
- Assist the driver while maneuvering into positions for collection and disposal.
- Maintain and partake in daily clean-up of vehicle.
- Learn garbage routes to better assist driver.
- Attend all required training, operational meetings, and mandatory monthly Safety Meetings.
