Waste Services Collection Helper
About The Position
Interstate Waste Services (IWS) is seeking a dedicated Collection Helper to join their team. IWS is a leading provider of solid waste and recycling services, serving Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, New York City, and expanding into Pennsylvania and Ohio. The company is committed to providing high-quality services while prioritizing employee, customer, and environmental safety. This role involves physically collecting and loading refuse into a heavy-duty sanitation vehicle, working closely with drivers and other team members. The position reports to the Operations Manager onsite and may also be supervised by Route Supervisors and Dispatchers.
Requirements
- Must meet specified physical standards.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Team-player attitude, as the job involves working in close quarters with other staff.
- Resumes/list of work history with employment dates must be included to be considered for employment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Collect (primarily by hand) and load refuse from customer locations into a heavy-duty sanitation vehicle.
- Transfer refuse in a timely and safe manner from customer stops.
- Assist the driver while maneuvering into positions for collection and disposal.
- Maintain and partake in daily clean-up of the vehicle.
- Learn garbage routes to better assist the driver.
- Attend all required training, operational meetings, and mandatory monthly Safety Meetings.
