About The Position

The Waste Processing Supervisor is a key position in overseeing the details of every order and ensuring they are executed through effective communications within the team and outside teams, departments, customers, transporters, etc. This role involves maintaining operational documentation, supervising a team of technicians, and overseeing large projects and orders from receipt to settlement. The supervisor will also communicate with other sites to coordinate shipments and supplies, manage scheduled pickups and deliveries, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local permit requirements. Additionally, they will communicate facility needs and operational changes to management, supervise the segregation and packaging of materials for transport, and provide training and coaching to technicians and operators.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience working with hazardous materials
  • 1+ years of experience managing a team
  • Forklift certified with possession of safe driving record preferred
  • Knowledge of RCRA, DOT, EPA, and state waste regulations
  • Ability to operate manual equipment such as a pallet jack to load and unload trucks
  • Ability to use a computer for web-based training and inventory tracking purposes
  • Ability to understand and respond to written and verbal English
  • Ability to deal politely with customers and team members
  • Ability to lead an hourly team

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science-related field preferred
  • BA or BS degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience sampling and receiving hazardous waste preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain operational documentation including but not limited to reports, licenses, procedures, DOT requirements, and order requirements.
  • Supervise team of technicians and oversee large projects and orders from receipt to settlement.
  • Communicate with other sites to coordinate inbound and outbound shipments and supplies.
  • Manage scheduled pickups and deliveries, including maintaining communication with customer service team to resolve issues or clarify requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local permit requirements.
  • Communicate to management facility needs, difficulties, and changes in operations.
  • Supervise segregation and packaging material for transport along with the completion of required paperwork in a legible, accurate, and timely manner in accordance with appropriate regulations and Customer/Clean Earth policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Provide training and coaching to technicians and operators on-the-job in equipment operation, service line processes, and necessary paperwork.
  • Operate fork trucks and other heavy equipment when properly trained to move materials for storage/loading and off-loading.
  • Promptly report any incidents, injuries or safety concerns to management.
  • Adhere to and abide by Clean Earth safety and security policies and procedures (e.g.Cardinal Rules, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), etc.).
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by management.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly without assistance and up to 75 pounds unassisted on occasion.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 500 pounds using a pallet jack, hand truck or other device to assist.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled environments.
  • Visual acuity to read labels and documentation and sufficient depth perception to safely operate forklifts.
  • Ability to hear vehicle warning chimes, alarms and other audible safety signals.
  • Ability and willingness to wear company-issued personal protection equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed boots, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.
  • Ability to work overtime hours as needed based on business needs.
