About The Position

Pratt Industries is seeking a Waste Champion for their Corrugating Department in Carlisle, PA. This role is crucial for leading process improvement projects focused on plant waste reduction. The Waste Champion will foster an environment of continuous improvement, address process pain points, and empower employees to minimize waste. This position involves developing and presenting statistical data and analysis to management and staff, and collaborating with employees, managers, and support teams to facilitate teamwork, bridge knowledge gaps, and maintain a consistent focus on process improvement and waste reduction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in related field.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of algebra and geometry along with basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing).
  • Ability to comprehend and identify waste streams in the plant’s processes.
  • Ability to recognize and prioritize focus areas for waste reduction.
  • Ability to gather information and perform root cause analysis and problem solving.
  • Ability to create reports for review by upper management.
  • Ability to lead teams in waste reduction efforts.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is sometimes required to use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Related college degree and/or appropriate technical courses or Associate’s (A.A.) degree
  • Corrugated experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of process improvement projects related to plant waste reduction.
  • Help create an environment that promotes continuous improvement, reduces process pain points and encourages employee empowerment to reduce process waste.
  • Develop and provide relevant and up to date statistical data and analysis to managers and employees.
  • Work closely with employees, managers and other support staff to facilitate team efforts, bridge specific knowledge gaps and maintain continuous focus on plant process improvement and process waste reduction.
