About The Position

Eaton’s ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a Washer/Painter/Fork Truck Operator for the 2nd shift. The hourly rate for this position is $25.18 plus a $1.50 shift differential per hour. This role involves cleaning and preparing iron and aluminum castings and sheet metal parts for painting and/or assembly, performing powder coating or spray painting, and operating a forklift truck. The position requires adherence to safety regulations, maintaining a clean work area, and completing assigned training.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
  • Previous fork lift experience
  • Spray painting experience in an auto body shop
  • Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Syracuse, NY (50 miles) will be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all required duties to clean and prepare iron and aluminum castings and sheet metal parts for painting and/or assembly; to powder coat or spray paint parts and to operate a forklift truck.
  • Place parts in baskets and operate hoist to immerse in a series of acid, alkaline and rinse baths.
  • Run parts through a series of acid and/or caustic solutions to obtain bright dip on parts not to be painted.
  • Perform simple chemical tests and add proper quantities of chemicals to maintain specified PH levels, concentrations and temperatures as directed.
  • Maintain logs, checklists, test records, scrap reports and process documentation as specified.
  • Clean tanks and process equipment as needed. Operate foam packing equipment as required or directed.
  • Apply powder or spray paint to various shaped parts to obtain primer or finish coats; avoid runs, sags, pinholes and other painting defects.
  • Operate and adjust oven controls, valves, skimmers, pumps, chemical feed stations, powder coat stations and spray paint equipment to ensure the quality of the finished product.
  • Detect and report faulty equipment and defective materials and report all questionable conditions to supervision.
  • Prepare and submit work requests according to specified procedures.
  • Responsible for replenishing perishable tooling and putting into appropriate crib store's location.
  • Facilitate gauge control in and out of department for calibration.
  • Operate forklift truck or hand cart to move, stack and deliver material within or between departments as needed.
  • Exercise care in stacking to avoid shifting or falling of materials.
  • Run errands as instructed.
  • Change LP tanks or check battery water following preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Exercise care in handling and containing chemicals and chemical wastes or spills per specified environmental procedures.
  • Immediately report all spills to proper supervision.
  • Follow standard or prescribed safety regulations.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition following department procedures. Administer 5 S’s.
  • Operate floor scrubber as required or directed.
  • Perform similar or associated duties as required or directed.
  • Complete training as assigned.
