About The Position

Wash Technicians with Cando are responsible for safe wash/dry operations and inspection of poly hopper cars. Cando provides specialized rail operating services. We provide a wide range of rail services including short line operations, industrial switching, material handling, terminal & transload services, and more. With over 50 operations, we are the 3rd largest locomotive fleet in Canada and growing! The Wash Technician is responsible for safe wash/dry operations and inspection of poly hopper cars. The Wash Technician will take day to day work instruction from the Supervisor and work in conjunction with the on site switching provider to complete switching activities.

Requirements

• Excellent teamwork skills
• Physically fit including the ability to pull self-up and down from a railcar on a continuous basis.
• Knowledge of technology and computer systems
• Ability to obtain certification and medical clearances to perform the role
• Be able and willing to work day and night shifts, 365 days a year

Nice To Haves

• Rail car wash and drying system and associated equipment and Rail car Vacuum System (operation) considered an asset
• Experience in the maintenance and housekeeping of rail cars

Responsibilities

• Knowing and understanding applicable procedures, operating procedures, basic maintenance and escalation requirements.
• Execute daily rounds of the wash equipment and wash bay.
• Clean out, remove excess product in designated area. As well as general housekeeping.
• Promptly report all safety concerns, and equipment issues
• Complete daily reports, daily logs, and other reports deemed necessary
• Participate in training or company initiatives as required
• Exert “best effort” to protect human life, human safety and company property
• Actively participate with the team and provide excellent customer service while promoting a superior company image
