About The Position

This is a full-time night shift position working in a secure jail facility. Approximately 40 hours per week to include one weekend shift per month. This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in general clerical work to include filing, records maintenance, and data entry
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Ability to become VCIN/NCIC certified within six months of employment
  • Current valid driver's license and good driving record required
  • Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months
  • Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check (including polygraph examination) and education/degree verification required
  • This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check
  • Must be a US citizen or have been a lawful resident of the US for the past ten consecutive years
  • This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject random drug and alcohol testing
  • The medical use of marijuana for this position is prohibited

Responsibilities

  • Accurately enter all incoming criminal warrants, capias', protective orders, etc. into VCIN/NCIC
  • Prepare and provide reports to various courts, Virginia State Police, etc. as required
  • Maintain files
  • Purge records
  • Send and receive tele-type messages
  • Perform criminal history inquiries and DMV record checks
  • Research and retrieve various other information from VCIN/NCIC, courts, other law enforcement agencies, etc. in response to specific requests
  • Respond to phone inquiries
  • Ensure all processes are in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements
  • Assist with Virginia State Police audits
  • Perform general clerical duties
  • Perform other work as required
