About The Position

The Warming House Attendant is responsible for ensuring safe operations of the City's ice rink warming houses and to monitor and report rink activities. This position involves following and enforcing safe skating rules, promoting respectful behavior, performing general cleaning and light maintenance, opening and closing procedures, snow removal, equipment maintenance, reporting maintenance needs, completing paperwork, administering first aid, assisting with organized activities, and overseeing lost and found items. The role requires a minimum age of 16, attendance at required staff training, and availability for regular and winter break hours.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years of age.
  • Able to attend required staff training to be held at a time to be determined.
  • Available to work regular hours and winter break hours, to be determined.
  • Able to speak, hear and communicate effectively.
  • Able to evaluate situations carefully, and react appropriately.
  • Able to read and complete forms, including safety manuals, procedural instructions, and daily documentation.
  • Able to move around the facility.
  • Able to sit, stand and work, sometimes for an extended period.
  • Able to occasionally lift items weighing no more than 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and enforce safe skating on rink and promote respectful, friendly behavior in the facility.
  • Establish a friendly, positive rapport with facility users/skaters on and off the rink.
  • Perform general cleaning duties and light maintenance in the facility and on the exterior grounds to assure a quality facility appearance.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures of the facility.
  • Shovel snow and clear ice around doors and rink when necessary and maintain all equipment.
  • Report to supervisor additional maintenance needs.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork including daily attendance reports.
  • Perform necessary first aid for participants who are injured, complete the Personal Injury Report and submit to supervisor.
  • Assist with the supervision of organized activities as planned by the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Oversee lost and found items receptacle.
