This position performs various tasks involved in the production of fabricated belting for a variety of industries which would include using hand tools, blueprints and equipment to complete work orders. The position requires basic math skills for the ability to read and understand a tape measuring.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/equivalent
  • Sufficient knowledge or experience to perform computer entries
  • Industrial math and measuring to read and understand work orders and prints.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and drawings.
  • Willingness to ask questions and communicate openly with superiors and peers.
  • Ability to read a ruler in standard and metric.
  • Ability to add and subtract fractions and decimals and convert between the two.
  • Ability to apply basic Geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and recognize non-conformances.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrams or schedule form.
  • Must work individually as well as part of a team to provide a high level of efficiency and productivity, while not sacrificing quality and safety.
  • Must be able to set up and operate mechanical equipment as well as use power tools and hand tools safely.
  • Must be able to attain an OSHA-certified forklift license.

Responsibilities

  • Understand how to cut regular and step cut rolls per cut sheet provided
  • Operate large slitters to accurately slit belts to the desired width and length
  • Hand slit belts as needed
  • Square ends of belt and cut belts to proper length for further processing
  • Understand the various types of glues and cleaners to use for the type of belt and application being used
  • Fit Belt ends with adhesive, tie gum and cloth
  • Set up, prepare, and layout the belt for applying v-guides, cleats and sidewall
  • Measure, cut, couple and coil hoses to customer specification and understand the various types of hoses and their uses.
  • Inspect belts and hoses to ensure they meet quality standards
  • Basic installation of rubber belting including use of machine and hand tools on customer site.
  • Work with installation lead to ensure job meet schedule
  • Provide effective and timely onsite support for customers
  • Knowledge and adherence to onsite safety policies and procedures
  • Communicate well internally and externally about the status of all jobs

  • Check both incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and damage by reporting any abnormalities to supervisor
  • Load or unload trucks as necessary via forklift or other means
  • Label and put away incoming inventory- cycle counting
  • Attend safety, training and other informational meetings
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Ability to work independently
  • Basic math skills to use, read and understand a tape measure
  • On-call for weekends and willing to put in extra hours if needed
