About The Position

Weekes Forest Products/WS Building Materials is a 100% Employee-Owned company and a leading distributor of specialty building materials, engineered wood components, and industrial lumber materials. As a Warehouse & Yard Crewmember, you will be responsible for processing and preparing product orders for distribution to customers. This role requires a strong focus on customer service, teamwork, attention to safety, and accuracy. The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor areas. The ideal candidate will have a steady work style, enjoy executing clear objectives, and thrive in a team-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Patient work style interested in consistency and repetitive routines.
  • Adherence to company safety policies.
  • Ability to lift 20-60 pounds throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting exceptional teamwork.
  • Flexibility to work overtime hours as needed.
  • Experience operating material handling equipment such as a counter-balance forklift.
  • Ability to solve problems and persevere through heavy workloads, challenging conditions, and independent work.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and accurately organize building materials using a variety of equipment.
  • Maintain attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in work quality.
  • Follow the daily operations schedule and adjust to customer needs.
  • Assist in continually organizing warehouse and yard work areas.
  • Make decisions within clear guidelines with support from the team and management.
  • Learn new work thoroughly with opportunities for repetitive practice when changes occur.
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools to secure and prepare building material orders.
  • Read paperwork, work orders, yard pick tickets, and other order details.
  • Calculate various units of measure for shipping building materials (e.g., board feet, linear feet, square feet, pieces).
  • Use warehouse management system and enterprise system inventory control tools to verify stock availability and inventory accuracy.
  • Load and unload train rail cars containing materials.
  • Sort, move, and organize product departmentally while operating material handling equipment (e.g., counter-balance forklift, side loading lift truck).
