About The Position

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Human & Community Services & Intergovernmental Human Services Division. The Commodity Warehouse handles approximately 15 million pounds of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) purchased commodities annually. The Warehouse Worker prepares shipments, receives, and stores food commodities in the warehouse. This position verifies shipments of USDA commodity food or other items and prepares commodity orders for distribution. Hand picks orders by caseload onto pallets and supervisor assigns the loads. The work is performed independently without direct supervision.

Requirements

• General knowledge of warehouse procedures.
• Skill in operating a forklift and pallet jack.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
• Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, maintaining them over time.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
• Ability to comply with safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to operate a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, including using spreadsheets, word processing, database, email and other computer programs, including inventory management system.
• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Two years of job related warehouse and/or tractor-trailer experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Forklift certification or CDL Class A preferred.
• Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
