About The Position
Under general supervision, the Warehouse Worker performs work involving the collecting, sorting, and delivering of campus mail, United States Postal Service mail, residence hall mail, courier packages, freight and other materials for the campus. The position performs cashiering functions and assists with seasonal storage programs.
Requirements
- General knowledge of warehouse and mail handling practices including safety, item identification, warehouse procedures and postal regulations.
- Knowledge of identifying and notating damages and short counts.
- Experience in keeping and maintenance of receiving/delivery records.
- Experience with the use of handheld scanners and desktop workstations to obtain and store records.
- Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism.
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
- One year of experience assisting in the receipt, storage, or issuance of materials from a centralized stockroom or warehouse.
- Some experience in the operation of fork lift trucks or similar power-operated materials handling equipment.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
- Ability to obtain Cal Poly Defensive and Risk Management Forklift Training Operation Class permit within the first three months in this position.
