About The Position

The Warehouse Worker assists with both driving responsibilities and production team, based on where they are needed most. This is a full-time, non-exempt regular position located in Santa Maria, CA. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for overtime and benefits, according to applicable guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Valid CA driver’s license and insurable under RMA.
  • Ability to reach, bend, and lift boxes, furniture, etc. into and out of delivery truck.
  • Must be able to do extensive driving in a variety of road and weather conditions.
  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to work safely.
  • Requires strong customer service orientation.
  • Possess a team player attitude and ability to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous route driving experience a plus.
  • Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Unload Truck.
  • Sort clothing from donations.
  • Clean and organize Production area.
  • Close Production and Staging areas.
  • Put out remaining merchandise onto floor.
  • Front Area Support (hangers, ragging).
  • Greet and assist customers on sales floor.
  • Be alert for shoplifters and price tampering.
  • Ensures accurate accountability for production process.
  • Ensures security for production center.
  • Ensures that production area is clean and orderly daily.
  • Ensures that trash and rag-out is removed from area regularly.
  • Drives box truck/or cargo van for the purpose of transporting items to designated Thrift Stores.
  • Load and unload truck utilizing proper lifting techniques.
  • Safely negotiate in a variety of environments, e.g. steep stairs, uneven surfaces.
  • Prior to daily route, inspect all vehicles and maintain vehicle supplies such as gas, oil, water, tires, etc. to ensure vehicle is kept in proper working condition.
  • Keeps vehicle maintenance record.
  • Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles to supervisor.
  • Read and understand the Thomas Guide, maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
  • Obey all traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
  • Comply with all Federal, State, and local laws regulating safe driving, and RMA policies and procedures.
  • Ensure any accident or injury is promptly reported.
  • Maintain a safe driving record and appropriate driver's license classification while operating company vehicles.
  • Attend all safety matrix and driver meetings.
  • Comply with RMA safety program.
  • Clean Bathrooms before closing.
  • Check to make sure all electrical appliances are turned off.
  • Back-up Production functions of tagging and pricing.
  • Follow all policies and procedures in Cashier Handbook.
  • Know and adhere to store policies and procedures.
