About The Position

The Warehouse Technician II is an intermediate-level position responsible for performing a variety of warehouse operations at Seashore Fruit & Produce Co. with minimal supervision. This position requires proficiency in multiple warehouse functions, working knowledge of produce handling requirements, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and productivity in our fast-paced produce distribution environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in warehouse operations, preferably with perishable products
  • Forklift certification required or must be obtained within 60 days of hire/promotion
  • Basic familiarity with inventory systems
  • Reliable attendance record
  • Demonstrated ability to meet productivity standards
  • Good understanding of warehouse operations and procedures
  • Working knowledge of inventory management practices
  • Familiarity with produce handling requirements
  • Understanding of food safety protocols
  • Knowledge of quality indicators for common produce items
  • Understanding of proper equipment operation
  • Proficient operation of warehouse equipment
  • Good order selection techniques
  • Effective communication (verbal)
  • Basic computer skills for inventory systems
  • Time management
  • Attention to detail
  • Work effectively in refrigerated environments (34-45°F) for extended periods
  • Stand and walk for majority of shift
  • Lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Work efficiently and accurately under time pressure
  • Work early morning hours, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Follow directions consistently
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Adapt to changing priorities throughout shift

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with produce or food products preferred
  • Food handler's certification preferred
  • Six Sigma certified White Belt or higher preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform multiple warehouse functions proficiently (receiving, storage, order selection, loading, and inventory control)
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently, including electric pallet jacks and forklifts
  • Select and build orders accurately according to customer specifications
  • Verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and properly store products
  • Stage outgoing orders in appropriate delivery sequence
  • Rotate inventory following defined procedures
  • Handle produce with appropriate care to maintain quality
  • Assist with daily cycle counts and inventory adjustments
  • Perform basic quality checks on produce items
  • Maintain proper rotation of perishable inventory
  • Identify and report obvious quality issues with produce
  • Follow all food safety protocols and sanitation standards
  • Monitor and report temperature discrepancies in storage areas
  • Maintain clean and organized work environment
  • Report safety hazards or equipment issues
  • Follow proper lifting techniques and safety procedures
  • Adhere to all company safety policies
  • Complete basic documentation for warehouse activities
  • Verify and sign off on routine paperwork
  • Report inventory discrepancies to supervisor
  • Document damaged or rejected products
  • Maintain simple records as required
  • Assist less experienced warehouse technicians as needed
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
  • Share information about workflow issues or product concerns
  • Participate in team efforts during high-volume periods
  • Support other warehouse functions during peak times
