About The Position

This is a part-time Warehouse Tech position in Texas. The role involves a full range of body motion including lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting, climbing, and reaching. Employees will be responsible for placing and removing crane slings, climbing on stacks of tubing, and operating banding equipment. The job requires frequent walking and standing on a concrete floor for the entire shift, wearing steel-toed shoes. Corrected vision and hearing to the normal range are necessary. The work environment is an indoor manufacturing setting with regular exposure to loud noise, hot temperatures (95°F to 110°F in summer), and cold temperatures. Employees must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including noise/hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, and steel-toed work shoes. The position is fast-paced, and the ability to deal with stress is essential.

Requirements

  • Full range of body motion to include: constant lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting, climbing, and reaching outward and overhead.
  • Ability to maintain one's balance while performing the required work tasks.
  • Frequent unassisted lifting of a variety of objects from various positions, which range in weight from 5 to 50 pounds with an average weight of 34-37 pounds.
  • Ability to deal with stress and get along with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Mathematical skills equivalent to high school level required. Math skills must include the ability to do decimals, fractions and averages.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential job function.
  • Must be 18 or older to work on shop floor.
  • Must be able to operate a variety of industrial machines safely and efficiently after training.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read and speak English is preferred.
  • High school education or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the equipment is in a safe operating condition.
  • Reviews the computerized work list for the equipment, locate the available material and prioritizes the orders to be processed.
  • Communicates with the other operators to formulate the run order of material.
  • Loads/unloads various machines to include conveyors.
  • Performs any necessary set-up during shift.
  • Completed daily Operational and Safety Checklists.
  • Operate banding equipment to bundle tubes by wrapping and securing metal banding around the bundle of tubes, taking a tensioner to tighten the metal bands around the tubes, and using a crimper to secure the banding around the tubes with a clip.
  • Place multiple metal bands on each bundle of tubing as determined by weight and size of tubing that is being shipped.
  • Wrap banding around tubing.
  • Climb on stacks of tubing to heights of six feet in order to locate bales of tubing to secure crane slings in order to move bales of tubing with overhead crane.
  • Place and remove crane slings over and around bales of tubing while hooking sling “eyes” onto crane hook.
