About The Position

The Warehouse Team Leader-BAI is responsible for overseeing facility safety, managing operations including production, shipping, and receiving schedules, and ensuring adherence to customer specifications and GMP practices. This role involves managing inventory, utilizing the company's ERP system, and supporting the Lean pull system. The Team Leader is also responsible for employee development, facilitating team problem-solving, conflict resolution, and fostering a high-performance work environment. Additionally, they ensure sanitation guidelines and GMPs are met, act as an on-shift representative for emergency response, and are committed to continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing principles. Upholding the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and data management is crucial, along with proactive safety management and compliance with all regulations and company policies. The role directs a crew of 6-7 people with the support of the warehouse supervisor.

Requirements

  • Gain an understanding of the Company ERP system.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Microsoft desktop applications.
  • Stay current on computer upgrades and/or modifications that pertain to the computer programs that the position requires.
  • Experienced in operating multiple varieties of forklifts.
  • Experienced in operating pull packs.
  • Experienced in operating a yard spotter truck for moving trailers around the facility.
  • High school diploma or a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, using the Basic Principles, with all levels within the organization both verbally and in writing.
  • Regularly required to stand.
  • Frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Directing, with the support of the warehouse supervisor, a crew consisting of 6-7 people.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for facility safety, including behavior-based safety processes, coaching employees on safety behavior, ensuring safety meetings and training are completed, assisting with tours and inspections, maintaining safe working conditions, completing behavior-based safety audits, correcting unsafe conditions, and completing accident investigations.
  • Oversee adherence to all production, shipping, and receiving schedules to meet customer and plant operations requirements, and manage the pull system for packaging materials and ingredients.
  • Ensure all team members meet customer specifications and GMP practices.
  • Participate in the investigation and solution of shipping or inventory errors and provide support to the Shift Manager.
  • Perform activities associated with the Lean pull system for packaging materials and ingredients.
  • Be proficient in moving inventory, maintaining production and pack orders within the ERP management system, warehouse transfers, scheduled deployment of finished goods on sales orders, and running the MRP or Pull tool.
  • Responsible for the development of team members by acting as a team coach and resource provider.
  • Ensure team members are properly trained and qualified.
  • Facilitate team problem solving, decision making, fair and timely disciplinary action, and conflict resolution.
  • Facilitate communication between shifts and teams, and ensure the development of a high-performance work environment.
  • Responsible for meeting customer requirements through communication, documentation, training of team members, and adherence to sanitation guidelines and GMPs.
  • Responsible for meeting requirements of supplier certification programs and audits.
  • Ensure corrective action is taken on corporate/customer sanitation audits.
  • Act as an on-shift representative for emergency response coordination, documentation, and compliance to company policies.
  • Respond to HR related issues as needed, conduct thorough investigations, and coordinate results/issues.
  • Demonstrate a daily commitment to the continuous improvement process by following Lean Manufacturing principles and the Basic Principles.
  • Strive to improve each work process and embrace change productively.
  • Identify and implement value-added and cost savings activities and projects.
  • Uphold the principles of SQF 2000.
  • Immediately report any food safety, food quality, or plant security issues to management.

  • Maintain the highest standards of data management by creating consistent, reliable data.
  • Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and internal Company policies.
  • Regularly complete behavior-based safety observations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
