About The Position

As a Warehouse Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading an assigned function within the warehouse, providing direction to associates, and troubleshooting issues. This role involves assisting in the supervision of inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. You will also play a key part in inventory control, including training, execution of cycle counts, and physical inventory counts to maintain accurate and organized inventory. Collaboration with the leadership team is essential for resolving inventory discrepancies. Key duties include counting all product before storage, comparing it to the manifest, checking shipments for shortages or damages, and verifying outgoing orders against customer requirements for accuracy in quantity, quality, labeling, and address. You will also perform product relocation, replenishment, and consolidation as directed, and inform management of any resource allocation issues (staffing, equipment). In terms of leadership and supervision, you will ensure a safe work environment by delivering safety training, enforcing safety procedures, and addressing safety concerns. You will collaborate with the Assistant Warehouse Manager and Distribution Center Manager on the technical and professional development of associates, participating in the implementation of development plans. Utilizing effective coaching, teaching, and training methods to develop successful team members is crucial. You will also assist in executing strategies for recognition, engagement, and teambuilding, and provide input for performance assessments, recommending actions such as promotions, counseling, or termination. Assisting the Distribution Center Manager with performance conversations, coaching, counseling, and discipline to ensure accountability is also a key responsibility. You will provide associates with task-level direction within your area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • 3+ years of supply chain experience, including distribution center, inventory, and transportation.
  • Strong process improvement mindset focusing on continuous growth.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products.
  • Lifting up to 90 pounds.
  • Continuous lifting, bending, twisting, and crouching.
  • Meet the requirements of Dealer Tire’s Motor Vehicle Record Policy and Company Vehicle Fleet Policy.
  • Always operate the company vehicle in a safe, professional manner and wear a seat belt.
  • Wear safety equipment when required.
  • For those with a Missouri Driver’s License, you must have a valid Class E license.
  • For those working in a Michigan Distribution Center, you must have a valid Chauffeur’s License.
  • Must be able to speak/read English well enough to converse with the public, understand road signs, respond to official questions, make legible entries on records and reports.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and after hire, be able to pass a driver’s road skills test and DOT physical.
  • All applicants being considered for employment must pass a pre-employment drug screening before beginning work.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience with WMS, TMS and ERP systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the assigned function (receiving or shipping), providing direction to associates within the function and troubleshooting issues.
  • Assist in supervising all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure they are correct and carried out in a timely fashion.
  • Aid in inventory control training and execution of cycle counts and physical inventory counts to ensure that inventory is accurate and organized.
  • Collaborate with leadership team to resolve inventory control discrepancies.
  • Prior to product storage, count all product, compare to manifest, and check all shipments. Report shortages, damages, and missed shipments to management.
  • Check contents of orders as filled and assembled. Compare quantity, quality, labeling, and address with customer’s order to ensure outgoing shipments are complete and correct.
  • Perform relocation, replenishment and consolidation of product as directed.
  • Inform management of resource allocation (staffing, equipment) issues.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by delivering safety training and certifications, enforcing safety procedures, and addressing safety issues.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Warehouse Manager and Distribution Center Manager on technical and professional development planning for associates and participate in implementation of those plans.
  • Utilize effective coaching, teaching, and training to develop successful team members.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Warehouse Manager and Distribution Center Manager on employee initiatives to create and promote an environment where team members are involved, empowered, and committed to the success of the Company, thereby negating the need for third party representation.
  • Assist in the execution of strategies for recognition, engagement, and teambuilding.
  • Provide input into performance assessments of each team member and recommend appropriate action such as promotions, counseling, and termination. Assist Distribution Center Manager with performance conversations.
  • Assist with coaching, counseling, and discipline to hold associates accountable for performance.
  • Provide associates with task-level direction within area of responsibility.
  • Assist with monitoring supply levels and ordering supplies.
