About The Position

The Shipping Lead is responsible for working with warehouse leadership to oversee the shipping operations of the warehouse, ensuring efficient and accurate process and managing shipping associates. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a safe and productive work environment. This is an excellent transitional role for an individual looking to grow their career in distribution leadership.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in warehouse operations required, preferably with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to provide direction and instruction to other teammates.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Proficient in inventory management systems and warehouse management software required.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) required.
  • Ability to work overtime during peak season; as required.
  • Must have an annual review of Meets Expectations or Higher.
  • Must have worked with Horizon Group USA for at least one year.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct guidance, training, and support to warehouse associates to ensure effective performance.
  • Execute tasks in accordance with procedures established by the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Assign responsibilities and delegate tasks to optimize workflow and team productivity.
  • Monitor team performance, offering feedback and coaching to drive continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the receiving, storage, packing, and/or shipping processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure replenishment orders and returned merchandise are handled according to company procedures.
  • Ensure all operational activities comply with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Review, understand, and follow procedures, serving as a role model to ensure compliance by all team members.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with other departments to support timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory control procedures, including verification of incoming and outgoing materials and accurate inventory.
  • Conduct routine inventory audits and maintain inventory records.
  • Implement and monitor inventory practices to minimize discrepancies and inefficiencies.
  • Ensure all products are handled, stored, and shipped in alignment with quality and safety standards.
  • Identify and resolve product quality issues and order discrepancies and promptly notify a supervisor.
  • Promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Assist in the reporting and investigation of safety incidents or near misses.
  • Notify the Supervisor or Manager of any warehouse or equipment conditions that may pose a safety risk.
  • Identify and report policy violations or safety concerns to the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to warehouse efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Prepare reports on productivity, efficiency, and any operational issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the management team.
