About The Position

Elections Alberta is an independent, non-partisan office of the Legislature responsible for administering provincial elections, by-elections and referenda. Our mission is to serve Albertans as an independent election management body committed to the administration of modern, transparent, and accessible democratic processes that ensure the integrity and enhance the value of Alberta’s electoral system. The Warehouse Support is responsible for performing a range of logistical and operational tasks to ensure the efficient management of equipment and supplies. The role also involves assembling and certifying equipment kits and shipments of election supplies, which are critical for the operation of provincial electoral events. This includes carefully organizing, sorting, packing, and lifting materials and equipment weighing up to 23 kg/50 lbs to ensure all necessary items are ready for delivery to various returning offices across the province. Once the events conclude, this position also supports the return of these supplies to the warehouse. This includes unpacking, disassembling, organizing, and storing the materials for future use.

Requirements

  • A high-school diploma and one (1) year of related experience in warehouse, shipping/receiving, stockkeeping, logistics, retail, events experience.
  • Highly organized individual with the ability to prioritize and time manage tasks.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (database entry, Excel, MS Word, Outlook).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to clearly communicate with clients and be able to read supply requests and complete paperwork as needed.
  • Good physical stamina and capacity to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and moving supplies and standing for long periods of time.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of work and ensure that all documentation is accurate and that supplies are correctly organized and packed.
  • Working effectively as part of a team to accomplish tasks together with team members.
  • WHMIS and basic health and safety knowledge.
  • Fulfill the requirement to act as a non-partisan representative of Elections Alberta.
  • Work outside normal business hours, occasionally, to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift Certification: proficiency in operating forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and effectively.
  • First Aid and CPR training.
  • Experience in warehouse and/or shipping and receiving.

Responsibilities

  • Shipping and receiving of supplies at loading docks, storing items in the warehouse utilizing pallet jacks, dollies, and other material handling equipment.
  • Palletize all event materials in preparation for shipping to returning offices across Alberta.
  • Compile and assemble supplies for shipments in alignment with packing lists for delivery to returning officers for electoral events.
  • Disassemble, organize, and store supplies and materials returned to the Elections Alberta warehouse after provincial electoral events.
  • Build election kits and enumeration kits for both packaging and distribution during training sessions, as well as prepare monotainers for delivery to all returning offices for provincial electoral events.
  • Ensure all documentation is handled according to Elections Alberta protocols and procedures.
  • Adhere to safe workplace practices, maintain accurate inventory records, ensure cleanliness, and complete routine maintenance.
