About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Supply Chain Operation Manager or Supply Tech Supervisor, the supply technician is responsible for receiving and delivery of goods/equipment, shipping of goods/equipment, storage, stocking and distribution of medical supplies, restocking of specialty carts and clinical par areas, and for the disinfection, storage and distribution of patient care equipment used by departments, clinics and nursing units throughout the Facility. This role requires maintaining utmost confidentiality, adhering to hospital policies and procedures, and demonstrating ethical business practices. The technician will also be responsible for reporting safety concerns, managing PAR levels, processing requisitions, picking, packing, and delivering supplies, answering customer inquiries, stocking shelves, breaking down boxes, communicating low stock levels, restocking assigned areas, monitoring and rotating stock, and performing cycle counts. Additionally, they must follow infection control procedures and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum six months related experience and/or training
  • Ability to perform each essential duty consistently and satisfactorily

  • Ability to demonstrate business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines

  • Ability to process daily supply requisitions using the MMIS system
  • Ability to pick, pack and deliver supplies to the requesting department
  • Ability to answer phone calls promptly and ensure customers are served timely
  • Ability to put away freight as instructed or scheduled
  • Ability to break down boxes and ensure work area is free and clear of trash
  • Ability to communicate with the supervisor and/or buyer when taking the last item or when critical items are at a low stock level
  • Ability to restock assigned supply areas according to schedule and complete all the appropriate transactions in the MMIS system
  • Ability to monitor and rotate stock in assigned areas to prevent obsolescence and reduce spoilage
  • Ability to perform periodic cycle supply counts as assigned
  • Ability to follow all applicable infection control procedures when storing, delivering and handling equipment and supplies
  • Ability to maintain supply rooms, storeroom, central supply and receiving areas clean, neat and orderly
  • Ability to meet delivery vehicles at the loading dock and assist in unloading supplies and equipment
  • Ability to verify quantity delivered against freight bill and acknowledge receipt
  • Ability to inspect all goods delivered and report immediately any visible damage
  • Ability to open each box or package received to verify the integrity of the contents and match details against the packing slip
  • Ability to deliver inventory items to General Store and special orders items directly to the department
  • Ability to obtain a legible signature by the person receiving the merchandise on the delivery ticket
  • Ability to return goods to receiving or to the store if no one is available to accept and sign
  • Ability to receive and tag capital equipment and notify appropriate departments
  • Ability to complete the Capital Equipment receiving form
  • Ability to prepare return goods shipments and ship equipment and/or supplies to the vendor
  • Ability to maintain a log of all shipments
  • Ability to ensure that all equipment in the centralized equipment room are plugged into electrical sources if applicable
  • Ability to ensure that all equipment requiring repair are logged and either taken to biomed for repair or sent back to the original equipment manufacturer
  • Ability to maintain consignment inventory and ensure that all documentation related to the issuance of the equipment is complete and accurate
  • Ability to ensure that all equipment is cleaned and sanitized according to the manufacturer recommendations or central supply guidelines
  • Ability to maintain the par levels on clinical units for all designated equipment in clean utility room
  • Ability to check, exchange and restock the crash carts, disaster cart and traction cart as needed
  • Ability to assist in obtaining supplies for customers from the central supply distribution area
  • Ability to ensure that item(s) are expensed/issued out in the MMIS system as needed
  • Ability to manage the return of rental equipment including calling vendor for pick up and maintaining adequate records

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certification relevant to the job duties from a college or technical school preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain, if possible, a valid Texas driver’s license and insurance eligibility to be able to drive Company vehicles if needed in an emergency

  • Meeting delivery vehicles at the loading dock and assisting in unloading supplies and equipment
  • Verifying quantity delivered against freight bill and acknowledging receipt by signing the bill of lading
  • Inspecting all goods delivered and reporting immediately any visible damage to the driver and to the buyer
  • Opening each box or package received to verify the integrity of the contents and that the quantity, unit of measure, description and order number match the packing slip
  • Delivering inventory items to General Store and special orders items directly to the department indicated on the purchase order
  • Obtaining a legible signature by the person receiving the merchandise on the delivery ticket and leaving a copy with the merchandise
  • Returning the goods to receiving or to the store if no one is available to accept and sign
  • Receiving and tagging capital equipment and notifying appropriate departments (BioMed, Plant Maintenance, Information Services)
  • Completing the Capital Equipment receiving form and forwarding it to the capital equipment buyer
  • Preparing return goods shipments and shipping equipment and/or supplies to the vendor for credit or repair
  • Maintaining a log of all the shipments by date, listing purchase order number (if applicable), item description and Freight Company
  • Ensuring that all equipment in the centralized equipment room are plugged into electrical sources if applicable
