About The Position

The Warehouse Supervisor will be primarily responsible for managing warehouse operations, shipping, material handling, and freight carriers, under the direction of the Warehouse Manager. This role involves assisting the Warehouse Manager with hiring and training, scheduling, overseeing, coaching, and training warehouse staff, and conducting performance evaluations. The supervisor will manage the pick and pack operation, accurately ship orders, and prioritize and process shipments using the ERP system in coordination with Sales and Accounting. Responsibilities also include negotiating transportation rates and services with freight carriers, analyzing the financial impact of logistics changes, receiving and recording new inventory, conducting physical inventories, replenishing stock, ensuring correct storage of inventory, transferring inventory to trucks, and scheduling materials being transferred. The role requires collaboration with other departments to develop strategic plans for warehouse efficiency, monitoring expenditures, implementing corrective actions, and enforcing operating instructions and safety policies. The supervisor will also resolve routine equipment issues and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years supervising warehouse operations in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Hands-on experience transacting and analyzing inventory with ERP software systems.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Proficient with data entry and inventory software and systems.
  • Ability to operate all machinery in the warehouse, including forklifts, reach trucks, and scanning guns.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven work experience as a logistics/warehouse supervisor or manager will be considered as an offset to the degree.
  • Experience working in a GMP environment preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience in the manufacturing industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Warehouse Manager with hiring and training of new employees.
  • Schedule, oversee, coach, and train warehouse staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Manage the pick and pack operation and accurately ship orders following customer requests, routing guides, and company procedures.
  • Prioritize and process shipments using the ERP system and by coordinating with Sales and Accounting staff.
  • Negotiate transportation rates and services with freight carriers to obtain the most cost-effective and efficient means of transporting products and materials.
  • Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes/mixes, or carriers.
  • Receives and records new inventory as it is delivered; inspects and stores it according to policy.
  • Conducts physical inventory, compares results to computerized inventory, and reconciles any differences.
  • Replenishes stock and inventory as needed.
  • Ensures that all stock is stored in correct locations in the warehouse.
  • Transfers inventory to trucks for delivery in a timely manner and according to schedule.
  • Schedules materials being transferred to and from the warehouse; coordinates transfer of inventory between departments.
  • Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to develop strategic plans and procedures to increase the efficiency of warehouse practices.
  • Monitors expenditures; implements corrective actions if needed.
  • Enforces operating instructions and safety policies.
  • Resolves routine equipment issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
