About The Position

This position is responsible to the Maintenance Operations Chief for procurement of goods and services not related to the warehouse. This position is responsible for inventory and warehousing for the Central Storeroom located at the Central Regional Wastewater System. Supervises the warehouse position(s) and the inventory specialist. Conducts training in new procedures, selects purchasing methods, coordinates bidding activities, develops standards for vendor evaluation and selection, and delegates purchase requisitions, placement of orders.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience required.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Working knowledge of computerized purchasing systems.
  • Working knowledge of business law in purchasing field.
  • Knowledge of basic algebraic formulas.
  • Good interpersonal skills, communication (written and verbal) skills, and organizational skills are required to effectively coordinate projects with Authority projects and outside vendors.
  • Ability to write concise and accurate purchasing reports, requisitions internal and external correspondence, and performance evaluations.
  • Ability to work under time deadlines required.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college level course work preferred.
  • Five year of purchasing experience or three years in government purchasing or material management preferred.
  • Forklist safety, Warehouse safety, Supplychain / Logistics certified, LSS/Quality/Audit/Compliance certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Develops, recommends, and administers warehouse procedures and guidelines.
  • Council employees, supervisors, and managers in matters concerning proper warehouse related methods in order that Authority purchases comply with Authority policy and state law.
  • Interacts with project personnel and management on warehouse procedures, inventory, requisitions catalog, and returns.
  • Works closely with project management to ensure budget rules are followed and tracks spending to ensure inventoried goods are not exceeding Authority spending thresholds and bid amounts.
  • Monitors warehouse inventories and reviews with project personnel to keep current ABC analysis, order point, order quantities, surplus, and obsolescence.
  • Interacts with the finance department management to resolve issues between the purchasing/inventory software and the financial software systems interface.
  • Employees assigned to this position are classified as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to report to work when scheduled during departmental and/or emergency situations including, but not limited to, extended periods of inclement weather when travel may be difficult. This position is essential because in the absence of sufficient personnel, the plant cannot operate safely.
