Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.); 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year working in a lead or supervisory capacity in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience operating forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and competently.
  • Experience with inventory management systems.
  • Experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a driving record indicating a safe driving history acceptable to the company; must remain eligible at all times to drive a motor vehicle under applicable state and federal laws and FMCSA regulations.
  • Forklift certification required, or willingness to obtain on the job.
  • Knowledge of all warehouse operations, such as shipping, receiving, flow patterns, inventory control, and freight.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and order picking processes.
  • Ability to read, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to work safely in all job tasks and model safe working practices for others. Familiarity with OSHA regulations for safe equipment operations.
  • Skill in operation of power equipment, including forklift, electric pallet jacks, and cherry picker.
  • Ability to operate a lift gate safely and effectively.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and maneuver large/heavy products or pieces of equipment while working within established safety guidelines.
  • Ability to efficiently utilize necessary technology to complete tasks, such as RF equipment and ERP software.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to lead teams based on company and departmental goals. Capable of motivating positive behaviors amongst team members.
  • Ability to communicate information across different individuals, departments, and external parties in order to influence attitudes and actions.
  • Knowledge of human resource management principles, including hiring, training and orienting, coaching, and evaluating employees, as well as providing discipline when necessary.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the activities of subordinates.
  • Strong ability to multitask; skilled at prioritizing work, managing time, and working efficiently. Strict attention to detail, highly organized, and works with a sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the smooth, safe, and efficient functioning of the warehouse. Performs or oversees all warehouse functions in a small warehouse or a subset of functions within a medium-to-larger sized warehouse.
  • Directs the day-to-day activities of Material Handlers and Drivers in all or some warehouse functions such as receiving, inbound PO reconciliation, inventory control, cycle counting, picking, packing, shipping, customer deliveries, fleet management, and/or other warehouse operations to ensure that customers receive the Right Product, at the Right Time, and in the Right Condition, in a clean, safe, and productive environment.
  • May assist Warehouse Manager, Branch Manager, or Regional Ops Manager by providing recommendations related to staffing, budget, and fulfillment of the warehouse’s financial objectives.
  • Fosters a cohesive and productive team through collaboration, inclusion, and teamwork. Leads by example and models exceptional customer service.
  • Monitors warehouse performance compared to goals and adjusts operating procedures as needed to meet objectives.
  • Ensures products are accurately received into the warehouse system, labeled, and prepared for stocking by monitoring the daily processing workload and directing labor needs; ensures distribution standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are followed.
  • Ensures customers receive the Right Product at the Right Time in the Right Condition by: monitoring the daily order-filling workload and directing labor needs; checking shipping documents for accuracy; routing freight; coordinating emergency or unusual shipments; and ensuring distribution standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are followed.
  • Ensures a safe work environment by observing and coaching employees; removing potential safety hazards; maintaining a clean work area through a clean-as-you-work process; and participating as a member of Safety Committees or other safety related activities. Performs regular safety inspections of warehouse equipment and facility. Ensures all safety procedures are followed, and all equipment inspections and repairs are done in a timely manner. Models safe work practices to others.
  • Maintains department staff by conducting interviews in the hiring process and making recommendations; conducts and/or ensures the training of new employees and ongoing training of existing employees; provides coaching, counseling, and disciplining for employees as necessary; and participates in and delivers mid-year and annual performance reviews.
  • Communicates daily warehouse staffing with branch/ops leadership and makes recommendations for handling volume of work.
  • Maintains branch security by following all appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures all lift equipment drivers are tested and certified on the machinery prior to issuing use approval.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate inventory counts by performing regular cycle counts of locations and parts; monitoring put-away activities; monitoring and maintaining data consistency between databases; and researching inventory discrepancies found during picking.
  • Supervises and/or performs system adjustments based on cycle counts, short picks, or inventory audits.
  • Assists in resolving receiving-related exceptions and discrepancies by: researching receipt problems; serving as liaison between parties to determine how to handle discrepancies; and monitoring problem receipts to ensure return authorizations are received in a timely manner.
  • Maintains proficient level of skill in picking, stocking, and replenishment to perform duties and/or serve as backup when needed. Uses powered equipment, such as forklift, electric pallet jack, and cherry picker.
  • Will occasionally provide backup leadership support when Warehouse Manager or Branch Manager are away.
  • May serve as backup driver as assigned.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
