About The Position

We are looking for a Ration Clerk to join our team at the U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center dining facility. In this position, you’ll be the backbone of our supply chain—making sure our kitchen staff always have what they need to serve great meals. This role is up to 37 hours per week, with hours varying based on operational needs. We welcome applicants who qualify for the AbilityOne Program, a federal program that helps adults with disabilities find jobs and receive support services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in inventory control, food service operations, or supply coordination.
  • Experience working in a food service, dining facility, warehouse, stockroom, or similar environment.
  • Valid Real ID
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain government base access.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience interacting with vendors, kitchen staff, or internal teams in a service-oriented setting.
  • Experience using basic record-keeping methods, inventory logs, or simple reporting tools.
  • Basic understanding of food safety best practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Keep accurate records of food inventory so everything is accounted for.
  • Receive deliveries, check shipments against purchase orders, and ensure everything matches up.
  • Organize and store supplies with care, rotating perishable items using FIFO methods.
  • Distribute supplies quickly and efficiently to the right departments.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized storage areas, refrigerators, and freezers.
  • Prepare clear inventory and usage reports for management.
  • Work closely with vendors, kitchen staff, and internal teams to coordinate supply needs.
  • Provide friendly, responsive service—answering questions and resolving issues with professionalism.
  • Stock shelves, rotate merchandise, and create neat, appealing displays.
