1st Shift Warehouse Shipper
About The Position
The Warehouse Shipper is responsible for preparing and processing outgoing truckload, LTL, and overnight shipments, ensuring all items ship to the proper location according to established schedules. This role involves sorting packages, using a hand scanner, checking shipment integrity, entering data for shipping labels, transferring packages, and palletizing skids for loading onto trucks. The position requires conserving resources, resolving basic operating problems, and potentially performing audits on outgoing shipments. Employees are expected to participate in safety and health programs.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Related experience in a distribution setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills; able to learn and use in-house and vendor software applications.
- Able to work accurately from verbal and written instructions.
- Able to work accurately with numbers.
- Able to operate a pallet jack.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and processes outgoing truckload, LTL, and overnight shipments.
- Ensures all items ship to the proper location, according to established schedules.
- Sorts packages and uses a hand scanner to determine shipment status.
- Checks boxes to ensure they are sealed, properly labeled, and free from any damage, ensuring all quality standards are met.
- Enters package data into the computer to generate shipping labels.
- Transfers LTL and UPS packages to the appropriate staging locations.
- Palletizes skids and loads product onto trucks.
- Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies to complete tasks without waste.
- Uses knowledge and experience to resolve basic operating problems; reports other problems to manager.
- Operates a manual and/or motorized pallet jack.
- Picks non-conveyable items and locates to appropriate staging area.
- May perform regular audits on outgoing customer shipments to ensure orders are accurate and complete.
