About The Position

In an assigned area of the warehouse, the Warehouse Sanitation position is responsible for sweeping, mopping, picking up trash, emptying trash containers, and general cleaning to ensure the facility's sanitation requirements are met. This role involves traveling throughout the facility on foot or by operating an electric-powered pallet jack or tugger unit. The individual must be able to perform the listed responsibilities, which are not exhaustive but intended to provide an understanding of the position's purpose. A key aspect of this role is providing ultimate customer service to members to support their efforts in increasing same-store sales and profits.

Requirements

Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily.
High school diploma preferred.
Prior warehouse experience preferred.
Warehouse mobile equipment operating experience preferred.
Basic required competencies: Conscientiousness, detail-oriented, safety-minded, self-motivated to achieve, high initiative, ability to work with limited supervision, team-oriented, learning and applying information.
Ability to follow instructions in English (both written and verbal).
Ability to read and speak fluent English.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence relating to the position.
Ability to calculate figures and apply concepts of basic math and algebra.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to work with coworkers and gain mutual respect with a common goal of increasing sales and profitability.
Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
Frequently required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and smell.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Ability to operate safely warehouse mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

Sweep floor areas by hand with a broom, picking up trash such as broken boards, plastic, and tape. This includes sweeping empty slot locations and moving pallets with a pallet jack to sweep underneath.
Mop floor areas using water and/or various cleaning solutions to maintain cleanliness and clean up liquid spills.
Pick up damaged cases by hand, transport them to the damage/recoup area, or place them in their respective locations.
Empty trash bins by hand and transport the bags to the dumpster.
Empty plastic recyclable bins and transport the plastic to the recycling area.
Use a gas-operated blower unit to remove dust and trash from various warehouse locations.
Use a gas-operated pressure washer unit to clean floors and other assigned areas.
Perform duties outside the warehouse facility, such as sweeping or cleaning outdoor dock areas and emptying trash containers.
Work cooperatively as a member of the AWG team to meet total job responsibilities, emphasizing cooperation, integrity, tact, and consideration with members, associates, and management.
Operate warehouse mobile equipment safely.
