About The Position

The Warehouse Piece Picker is responsible for various tasks within the warehouse, including order selection, loading and unloading of products, and operating warehouse equipment. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The position involves physical activity such as pushing, pulling, lifting, and operating machinery like pallet jacks and forklifts. Reliable attendance and the ability to work overtime are essential.

Requirements

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
One (1) to two (2) years related experience in a warehouse environment.
Basic scanner technology skills.
Valid State Driver’s License.
Ability to work required schedule and arrive at work on time.
Ability and willingness to work voluntary/mandatory overtime that is required during all busy seasons.
Ability to effectively communicate (in writing and verbally) in a courteous and professional manner with others.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction.
Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
Ability to identify and compare letters and numbers.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as receivers, invoices, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to read and write simple sentences.
Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, co-workers and management.
Ability to maintain a level of production that meets or exceeds the established guidelines.
Ability to work independently without interruptions.
Ability to complete necessary paperwork neatly and accurately and according to established guidelines.
Properly count, document or scan the number of units as needed by the function that is being performed.
Ability to verify paperwork necessary to ensure customer is receiving correct product.
Ability to inspect condition of product received and product going out to ensure quality.

Responsibilities

Pushes, pulls, and steers rolling carts throughout the warehouse for order selection and loading.
Places product into a cart.
Operates a manual pallet jack by pulling, leading, and steering palletized product throughout the warehouse and into trucks.
Operates an electric “walkie” pallet jack by pulling, leading, and steering palletized product throughout the warehouse and into trucks.
Operates an electric “riding” pallet jack by pushing, pulling, leading, and steering palletized product throughout the warehouse and while loading trucks, which requires twisting to look in the direction of travel and continual mounting/dismounting.
Picks product onto a pallet, requiring reaching, pulling, twisting, bending, crouching, and lifting.
Operates a lift truck all day.
Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning or recharging batteries, and refers defects or repairs to supervisor/maintenance.
Moves controls to drive powered lift trucks and transport materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas.
Moves levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, pallet wrappers, load inverters, elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
Applies stretch-wrap under, over, or around unitized skids and boxes, and secures material or products for transport to designated areas.
Loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
Maintains reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
Performs all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
Unloads products from inbound carriers (manually and with equipment).
Verifies that the product received is identified and counted accurately.
Uses scanning device and computer as needed to perform tasks.
Inspects condition of all received product.
Moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location.
Receives and reads orders for pre-loading.
Fills orders by accurately picking product from storage and staging, places product on a spot utilizing stacking guidelines.
Inspects and loads trucks and arranges the products with the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
Checks printout for shortages, over-counts and incorrect item codes and lot numbers.
Corrects shortages, over-counts and incorrect lot codes as needed.
Inspects trailers before loading products.
Counts units on preload spot and compares with shipping documents.
Moves products from the preload spot, and directly from storage when required, into the trailer.
Arranges the products within the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
Properly secures the load for travel.
