About The Position

Leeco Steel is a leading supplier of steel plate from the premier mills worldwide. Due to continued growth, we are hiring a warehouse operations position in Hamilton, Ontario. This position is full-time. Responsible for processing steel parts through production support activities such as receiving, identifying, staging, cleaning, and preparing parts for the next operation or shipment. This role includes safe use of forklifts and overhead cranes to move material, verification of part specifications and identification, and completion of accurate paperwork and records.

Requirements

  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move steel parts, racks, pallets, and containers in a production environment (training/certification as required by the company).
  • Ability to read work orders, part numbers, and measuring tools to verify dimensions, quantities, and processing requirements.
  • Basic math, attention to detail, and the ability to follow processing, cleaning, inspection, and documentation procedures.
  • Ability to work safely with others and follow safety, quality, and OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Process steel parts through assigned work steps, including receiving, sorting, staging, cleaning, and preparing material for production or shipment.
  • Clean steel parts using approved tools, equipment, and methods to remove oil, scale, debris, rust, or other surface contaminants prior to inspection, processing, or shipment.
  • Inspect steel parts for correct dimensions, part numbers, quantities, surface condition, and visible quality issues to confirm conformance with work instructions or order requirements.
  • Safely move steel parts, racks, and containers with forklifts and/or overhead cranes using approved lifting and rigging practices to support processing flow and staging requirements.
  • Stage steel parts for cleaning, secondary processing, inspection, or shipment; verify part identification and quantities; and maintain accurate processing and shipping documentation.
  • Work with supervisors and production personnel to prioritize parts processing, cleaning schedules, and on-time completion of customer orders.
  • Pull, sort, and stage steel parts for upcoming production steps, ensuring material is organized, properly identified, and available for efficient processing.
  • Read and interpret work orders, routing instructions, cleaning requirements, and part specifications to complete processing steps accurately.
  • Label, package, and stage processed steel parts for the next operation or shipment, verifying measurements, counts, cleanliness, and identification before release.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper disposal of debris and cleaning materials, keeping aisles clear, and supporting 5S practices.
  • Assist with inventory control and inventory counts as needed.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and OSHA requirements, including required PPE.
