About The Position

Ryder is immediately hiring permanent full-time Skilled Construction Laborers to ensure expert craftsmanship at our warehouse manufacturing facility in Amarillo, Texas. Manufacturing and Construction positions pay weekly. Hourly Pay $19.00 per hour. We want the right Manufacturing Employee to join us at Ryder and work with State of the Art Equipment in the Safest Environment. Products Being Handled: Pallets. Equipment: Hammer, Prybar and power tools such as: Nail Gun, Grinder, Saw. Various construction, building, carpentry, manufacturing, skilled labor roles at Ryder support distribution across the US.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 1 to 2 years or more in Carpentry, Manufacturing environment preferred
• Ability to comprehend basic math
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work within a diverse work environment
• Highly thorough and dependable
• Must be punctual and have a good attendance record
• Performs work independently with minimal supervision
• Possesses a high degree of initiative
• Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Be a team player
• Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)
• Operate power equipment in a safe manner
• Lift and/or push/pull up to 50 lbs
• Twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis
• Use hands and feet simultaneously and perform repetitive movements
• Work at a steady, fast pace while kneeling and/or twisting
• Follow inspecting process
• Capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time (at least 2 hours straight, four times in an 8-hour day)

Nice To Haves

• Will use a pneumatic nail gun, powered saw, and other powered/hand tools to repair or assemble pallets
• You will be placing pallets on repair table, removing defective boards, replacing with new boards and securing boards into place.
• Work requires operator to stand for long periods of time (8-10 hours) and lifting up to 75 pounds throughout entire shift

Responsibilities

• Safely and securely inspect pallets at a rate that meets company standards and in a manner that meets company safety standards
• Manually lift 70lb pallets from a stack to a conveyor; in addition, lift the pallets for inspection and separation utilizing the Smetco machine
• Ensure that proper inspection and separation is met
• Conduct physical inventories as required
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area
• Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse
• Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety
• Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards
• Must wear all safety equipment while repairing pallets
• Performs duties within performance measurement guidelines of the contract
• Performs other duties as assigned
