Warehouse Packer/Forklift
About The Position
Assists in processing materials and manufacturing products in the warehouse area and other areas of the department. This role involves the timely fulfillment of customer orders, assembly of orders from stock, checking outgoing materials for quality, and packing materials. The position also includes monitoring and maintaining inventory, packaging components for kits, and complying with standard operational practices. Additionally, the role may involve assisting with laboratory work, such as preparing media and operating equipment, and participating in periodic inventories. Due to seasonal variations, employees are expected to assist in other areas as needed, which may include packing, working with living materials, field work, and various laboratory tasks. Training and PPE will be provided. Some evening, holiday, and weekend work will be required, including occasional Sunday organism care and on-call duties for medicinal leeches for 2-3 weeks per year.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- One to three months of related experience/or training required
- Forklift operation experience required
Responsibilities
- Assists in the timely fulfillment of customer orders with high quality products, kits and other related products.
- Assembles customer orders from stock, checks outgoing materials for quality; inserts them into containers and fills containers with protective packing material.
- Packs materials in the warehouse and in Bldg 604 packing area as assigned.
- Assists with monitoring and maintaining inventory of all stock items and packages components to be sold as kits.
- Complies with standard operational and working practices.
- Assists with maintaining, pollinating, harvesting, and processing genetic plant material such as tobacco, corn, and soybean, as well as food, care, packaging, etc. of materials in other areas.
- Assists with laboratory work as required in the department which includes but is not limited to mixing, measuring, and dispensing chemicals to prepare media, and operation of laboratory equipment.
- Assist with periodic inventories.
- Employees may be asked to help in packing areas, work with living materials, do outside field or collecting work, and help in various laboratory work areas.
- Some evening, holiday, and weekend work will be required as needed, including organism care on occasional Sundays and on-call after hours/weekends/holidays for medicinal leeches up to 2-3 weeks per year.
