About The Position

The Warehouse Lead is the go-to person on the floor when the Warehouse Operations Manager is not on site or is pulled to another priority. This role keeps daily warehouse work moving across both AGS sites (Hoyt and the Distribution Center) and provides steady, hands-on support to the warehouse team. The Warehouse Lead is not a supervisor and does not carry supervisory authority, but is trusted to direct the team’s day-to-day priorities, cover any warehouse function that needs a hand, and be the first point of contact when questions come up in the manager’s absence. This is a working lead role, spending most of the day on the floor performing receiving, material movement, and other warehouse duties alongside the team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of warehouse experience required, with receiving and material movement experience strongly preferred
  • Current forklift certification required, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Valid Michigan Chauffeur's License required, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, in order to cover the milk run between Hoyt and the Distribution Center as needed
  • Clean driving record required
  • Working knowledge of warehouse or inventory management systems required (MAGI experience a plus)
  • Strong attendance and reliability required
  • Ability to set priorities on the floor and give clear, respectful direction to peers
  • Ability to travel between Hoyt and the Distribution Center during workday, with reliable transportation
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including with the Warehouse Operations Manager and other department leaders
  • Comfort using handheld scanners, tablets, and standard computer tools for daily transactions
  • Stand, walk, and move throughout warehouse environments at both sites for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying of product and packages
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts
  • Work in fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Good hand-eye coordination and comfort with handheld scanning equipment

  • Prior lead or informal leadership experience in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-floor point of contact for the warehouse team when the Warehouse Operations Manager is not on-site
  • Direct daily work assignments, priorities, and coverage across Hoyt and the Distribution Center based on the manager's plan for the day
  • Coach team members on standards, safety, and process, and escalate personnel or performance concerns to the Warehouse Operations Manger
  • Set the tone for pace, safety, and quality on the floor every shift
  • Communicate updates, exceptions, and issues promptly to the Warehouse Operations Manager
  • Help train new hires and cross-train existing team members so more people can flex across functions over time
  • Perform full receiving duties, including verifying inbound shipments against purchase orders, bills of lading, and packing lists, when a team member is out or volume requires it
  • Move material between receiving, storage, production, and shipping across both sites using pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts as required
  • Put product away accurately and support keeping aisles, dock areas, and staging zones clean and organized
  • Cover the milk run between Hoyt and the Distribution Center when the regular driver is out, including loading, driving, unloading, and returning the vehicle safely and on schedule
  • Provide driver support and cover truck loading and unloading when needed
  • Backfill for scheduled and unscheduled absences so the floor is never left uncovered
  • Work at both Hoyt and the Distribution Center as the Warehouse Operations Manager directs, with same-day travel between sites when needed
  • Adjust priorities during the day based on call-ins, PTO, and inbound and outbound volume
  • Support consistent standards and expectations across both buildings
  • Use MAGI (or current inventory and warehouse system) to receive, put away, and track material accurately
  • Follow standard work for receiving, put-away, and material movement, and flag opportunities to improve
  • Help manage incoming requests from other departments so priorities stay clear and the team is not pulled in every direction
  • Support barcoding, labeling, and location accuracy efforts as they roll out
  • Partner with the Inventory Control team on discrepancies, transfers, and cycle counting support
  • Follow all AGS safety policies, PPE requirements, and forklift and pallet jack operating standards
  • Reinforce safe behavior on the floor and address unsafe conditions immediately
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and support 5S efforts across both sites
  • Share knowledge generously and support development of others
