About The Position

This role involves the physical handling and movement of materials within a warehouse environment. The Material Handler will be responsible for loading and unloading trucks, inspecting and organizing inventory, and picking and packaging orders. The position requires the ability to operate various equipment, including overhead cranes and hand torches, and to adhere strictly to safety procedures. The role also necessitates effective communication with customers, internal staff, and vendors, as well as the ability to read and interpret work orders, mill bills of lading, and blueprints.

Requirements

Ability to read and understand Chapel Steel work orders and fill out correctly.
Ability to read and understand all paperwork including Mill Bills of Lading and Chapel Steel work orders.
Effectively use all tools associated with performing duties including reading tape measures, calipers, etc.
Operate overhead and wall cranes utilizing remote controls in a safe and efficient manner.
Load and unload incoming trucks using chains, plate hooks and magnets.
Inspect and color code all incoming loads for inventory accuracy.
Pick and package orders as necessary.
Operation of all equipment needed in workstation such as overhead and wall cranes, hand torches, electro magnets, etc.
Work safely and adhere to safety rules and procedures at all times.
Computer literate.
Transports material, parts or equipment as directed.
Must use considerable skill and care in picking up, moving and accurately positioning loads to avoid excessive swinging of bulky, large or irregular shaped loads and to detect faulty slinging and slipping loads.
Ability to tactfully deal with customers, internal Sales Representatives, coworkers & vendors as necessary.
Must be able to read blueprints or drawings.

Responsibilities

Loading and unloading of trucks in the warehouse using an overhead crane.
Loading and unloading incoming trucks using chains, plate hooks, and magnets.
Inspecting and color-coding all incoming loads for inventory accuracy.
Picking and packaging orders as necessary.
Operating overhead and wall cranes utilizing remote controls in a safe and efficient manner.
Operating all equipment needed in the workstation such as overhead and wall cranes, hand torches, electro magnets, etc.
Reading and understanding Chapel Steel work orders and filling them out correctly.
Reading and understanding all paperwork including Mill Bills of Lading and Chapel Steel work orders.
