About The Position

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Salvage and warehouse area, ensuring a clean, productive, and safe work environment. This role contributes to the mission by managing the flow of goods through the warehouse and salvage departments to minimize waste and maximize profits.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to interact cordially and productively with a variety of people.
  • Must be able to market Goodwill and explain the mission to the general public.
  • Must be able to take initiative and work well with little supervision.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have good computer skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook, and the ability to use electronic reporting and/or data management systems.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
  • Must be able to keep information confidential.
  • Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with and among employees while motivating them to their best performance as well maintain an effective relationship with supervisor.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, on short notice, including nights and weekends, and regularly in excess of 40 hours per week.
  • Must be forklift certified or get such certification within 14 days of hire.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years, liability for automobile insurance and be insurable through the agency’s insurance carrier.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. frequently, 75lbs. regularly and 100+ lbs. with assistance, occasionally.
  • Ability to engage in frequent bending, stretching and stooping.
  • Ability to engage in prolonged standing, walking and twisting.
  • Ability to push equipment on wheels weighing 50 lbs. to 150 lbs.
  • Ability to use fingers, hands and wrists, repetitively.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications is preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a warehouse environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the warehouse facility and yard are clean, neat, organized, safe, and maintained to a high professional standard.
  • Oversee hiring, training, development, supervision, and evaluation of team members.
  • Create schedules and manage labor and payroll.
  • Initiate, complete, and submit personnel, new hire, and payroll records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure production of salvage bales meets established quantity and quality standards.
  • Oversee the collection of salvage items (shoes, hats, belts, purses, books, toys, pots and pans) and recycling items (computer components, cardboard, paper, plastic, televisions).
  • Ensure no salvage, recycling, or hazardous materials are disposed of improperly.
  • Ensure timely and proper loading of vendor trucks.
  • Schedule and complete Waste Management, Smash My Trash, and metal roll-off pickups weekly.
  • Ensure children’s free books are transferred in and out of the Community Center daily.
  • Ensure all forklifts receive quarterly preventive maintenance and remain safe and operational.
  • Maintain balers and keep an up-to-date maintenance log.
  • Ensure all Gaylords are properly labeled, organized, and stored.
  • Regularly inspect for unstable or fallen pallets and correct safety concerns immediately.
  • Monitor forklift operators for safe practices and proper equipment use.
  • Work with the donation center to prevent overflow and maintain a steady flow of incoming donations.
  • Communicate with the Director of Transportation to ensure donations are delivered to their assigned stores.
  • Review baler and forklift assignment sheets daily and ensure minimum performance expectations are met.
  • Verify daily bale and salvage counts are accurate and properly recorded.
  • Order and maintain warehouse supplies.
  • Observe all safety procedures and personnel policies.
  • Minimize accidents and Workers Compensation claims by ensuring safety and accident reporting standards are followed and preventive measures are taken.
  • Attend internal and external training as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
