About The Position

The Manager, Warehouse Operations Outbound oversees the building’s domestic outbound processing on 2 shifts, including picking, staging, and loading to achieve operational efficiency and safety. Through successful operational and people management, this job delivers on the business unit’s short-term goals, improves profitability, and develops the business unit’s warehouse talent. This job also responds to urgent customer needs or supply disruptions to ensure customer commitments are fulfilled. The Manager, Warehouse Operations Outbound will primarily be a day shift position but is responsible for the performance of both shifts and may require a flexible schedule to support either team based on the business needs. First shift operates from 5:30AM - 2PM or completion of work, second shift operates from 3:30PM - 12:00AM or completion of work.

Requirements

  • 8-12 years of experience
  • 4-8 years of managing leaders
  • Manages department operations and supervises professional employees, front line supervisors and/or business support staff
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures to achieve specific goals
  • Ensures employees operate within all safety, quality, corporate, and local guidelines
  • Decisions have a short term impact on work processes, outcomes and customers
  • Interacts with subordinates, peers, customers, and suppliers at various management levels; may interact with senior management
  • Interactions normally involve resolution of issues related to operations and/or projects
  • Gains consensus from various parties involved

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily outbound processing operations on 2 shifts including picking, staging, and loading.
  • Ensures operations are in compliance to the business unit’s standard operating procedures and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • This role is responsible for the performance of both shifts and may require schedule changes to be able to spend time with both shifts as needed.
  • Directs people management processes for the warehouse, including staffing, training and development, and talent management for 40-60 staff.
  • Recognizing the employees’ diverse skillsets and levels of experience, provides motivational leadership and champions a culture of high performance, learning, and safety.
  • Responds to disruptions in outbound processing and ensures that customer commitments are fulfilled.
  • Communicates with Sales and Customer Service teams within the business unit to understand customer concerns and makes adjustments to operations and people resources in response.
  • Manages all safety trainings and procedures for warehouse operations, ensuring that operations are in compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
  • Applies knowledge of warehouse safety to continuously and proactively mitigate risks.
  • Monitors performance and productivity metrics and reports on operational outcomes to Site Director.
