About The Position

The Lead Warehouse Specialist is responsible for overseeing daily shipping operations, ensuring timely and accurate shipment of goods, coordinating with team members, and maintaining compliance with company policies and safety regulations. This role involves leading daily operations in a specific department to meet and exceed key metrics, conducting meetings, participating in the safety committee, ensuring appropriate workflow and labor distribution, and addressing and resolving obstacles. The Lead will also assist management with safety and building security, perform pre-shift walkthroughs to identify safety risks, and contribute to accident analysis and resolution. They will partner with other departments to balance volume and labor, develop ideas for operational improvements using LEAN practices, and ensure completion of required paperwork and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures. Additionally, the Lead will provide training and coaching to team members, including technical training and problem-solving, and assist in maintaining a clean and organized department.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Experience in and familiarity with systems, tools, or processes preferred
  • Warehouse, distribution, supply chain experience
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems and equipment
  • Basic level of computer skills preferred; MS Office Suite
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge of the operation of power/mobile equipment; may require additional training and/or certification on additional power equipment
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 70 pounds regularly, up to 150 pounds infrequently and operate manual pallet jacks
  • Physically able to handle repetitive lifting, climbing, standing, and walking
  • Must be able to perform the duties performed by the associates they lead

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations in a specific department to delivery and exceed key metrics
  • Conduct tier 1 meetings
  • Participate in safety committee
  • Ensure appropriate workflow and labor distribution
  • Address and resolve obstacles
  • Assist management with safety and building security issues
  • Allocate resources to perform comprehensive pre-shift walkthrough of the department to identify and address any safety risks
  • Contribute to root cause accident analyses and resolution activities
  • Partner and ensure ongoing communication with leadership in the other departments to balance volume and labor across the shift by helping to direct and coordinate workflow
  • Develop ideas and suggestions for operational improvements utilizing LEAN practices
  • Responsible for completion of all required paperwork and adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures
  • Provide training and coaching to new and existing team members, including technical training, problem-solving resources, recognition and input for performance reviews
  • Assist upholding a 5S culture by keeping the department clean, organized, and audit-ready
