About The Position
A Warehouse Janitor in a food distribution facility is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and food‑safe environment that supports compliance with FDA, USDA, and company hygiene standards. This role directly contributes to product integrity, workplace safety, and smooth warehouse operations.
Requirements
- Ability to work in cold environments (coolers/freezers) when needed
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for long periods
- Familiarity with industrial cleaning equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to sanitation
- Ability to follow written cleaning schedules and complete sanitation logs
Nice To Haves
- Understanding of food‑safety standards (HACCP, GMPs) is highly preferred
- Prior janitorial or food‑industry experience is a plus
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize warehouse floors, aisles, loading docks, and staging areas
- Maintain cleanliness in temperature‑controlled zones (coolers, freezers, dry storage)
- Perform routine sanitation of high‑touch surfaces, equipment exteriors, and workstations
- Empty trash, food waste, and recycling following proper disposal procedures
- Follow strict food‑safety protocols, including proper chemical handling and sanitation logs
- Support pest‑prevention efforts by keeping areas free of debris, spills, and food residue
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers
- Assist with deep‑cleaning tasks during scheduled sanitation cycles
- Report spills, contamination risks, or facility hazards immediately to supervisors
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and ensure proper storage of chemicals
