About The Position

The NAPA Auto Parts Private Fleet is seeking a motivated individual with a desire to join a fast-paced, rewarding transportation Operations Team. Any individual interested in this position must thrive in a fast-paced environment under deadline pressures, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the yard mule while ensuring the needs of the cross dock are met regarding the placement of trailers for loading/unloading. This position will require the operator to operate a forklift on the dock when not actively moving trailers in the yard. Unload/Load inbound shipments safely and move products to dispersing trailers as well as performing duties using hand equipment. Must be forward-thinking, highly motivated with excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a forklift operator.
  • Minimum 1 year of trailer moves preferred.
  • Experience with standup and sit-down forklift
  • Required to possess valid Driver License
  • Ability to operate a yard mule/hostler to move trailers in/out of dock doors.
  • Experience backing trailers safety in tight spaces.
  • Understanding pre-post trip inspections for hostler and trailers

Responsibilities

  • Safely operated yard spotter to move trailers within the yard, ensuring proper placement and compliance with safety procedures.
  • Transport freight to/from inbound/outbound trailers employing stacking, blocking, and bracing techniques to maximize load volume to our customers.
  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances and maintain accurate scans/counts on all loads/orders.
  • Efficient loading “High-and-tight” using proper stacking techniques, load bars, and freight tables to maximize load volume and hit company goals for trailer utilization and load average.
  • Able to mount/dis-mount forklift continually for entire shift duration and utilize proper lifting techniques while installing/removing load bars inside the trailers.
  • Clean and maintain all trailers continuously during shift and keep terminal floor clean and free of debris.
  • Daily, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly area. Assist in maintaining the security of the dock. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and DOT Standards.
