About The Position

The Warehouse Handler supports warehouse operations in the transportation, moving, and storage industry. The role involves receiving, storing, packaging, wrapping, and dispatching goods while maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting daily operations. The handler also prepares and protects high-value, fragile, and specialty items so they remain in good condition during storage and transportation. The position requires attention to detail, careful handling of customer property, and adherence to safety and handling procedures. The Warehouse Handler works with team members and other departments to maintain an organized, safe, and efficient workplace and meet operational goals and customer expectations.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely, typically up to 50 pounds or more.
Basic understanding of warehouse safety procedures and protocols.
Experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks; certification is preferred but not mandatory.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Ability to package, wrap, and protect furniture, artwork, fragile items, and other valuable goods.
Ability to handle customer property carefully and maintain professional handling standards.
Physical strength and stamina to handle and move materials safely and efficiently.
Knowledge of proper packing and wrapping techniques and ability to select appropriate packing materials and handling methods.
Technical skill in operating warehouse equipment and adherence to safety standards.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

Forklift operator certification.
Previous experience in a warehouse, moving, packing, or logistics environment.
Experience wrapping, crating, and packaging high-value, fragile, or specialty items.
Familiarity with packing materials and techniques for protecting furniture, artwork, antiques, and delicate goods.
Familiarity with inventory management software and barcode scanning systems.
Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking.
Good communication skills to work effectively within a team and report to supervisors.

Responsibilities

Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and delivery documents.
Safely load, unload, and move materials using equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
Organize and store inventory in designated locations to optimize space and accessibility.
Package, wrap, and protect furniture, artwork, antiques, fragile items, and high-value customer property.
Select packing materials and wrapping techniques to prevent damage during storage, handling, and transportation.
Assist with crating, boxing, and preparing specialty or high-value items for shipment or long-term storage.
Inspect items for existing damage and report concerns or discrepancies to management.
Maintain accurate labeling and identification of packaged and stored goods.
Prepare and package orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company handling and shipping standards.
Handle customer property carefully and follow procedures for protecting valuable and delicate items.
Maintain warehouse cleanliness and orderliness to promote a safe working environment.
Conduct regular inventory counts and report discrepancies to management.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate daily warehouse operations and resolve issues promptly.
