About The Position

This position is for a General Utility role in the Warehouse at Abbott's Columbus, Ohio plant, within the Abbott Nutrition Division. The role involves supporting plant material control and various warehouse job functions, including line support, receiving, loading, unloading, creating bills of lading (BOLs), and potentially computer room responsibilities. The individual will perform full functionality in the Shipping Office while maintaining compliance with GMP, safety, and quality guidelines. Responsibilities may also include preventative maintenance tasks such as monitoring and responding to plant and automation systems and equipment. The role requires meeting all safety and housekeeping requirements and possessing the ability to cover operations in the supervisor's absence.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Forklift experience
  • 6+ months prior job experience within Plant Material Control
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Analytical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Good team player
  • Self-motivated and possess the ability to perform with minimal supervision
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of all receiving/warehouse operations, procedures, and requirements (usually obtained through on-the-job training)
  • Ability to lift and maneuver objects of considerable weight (50 lbs)
  • Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Creates accurate and legible documentation for receiving operations.
  • Performs data entry accurately and maintains applicable databases.
  • Efficiently processes inbound pallets through the proper receiving process.
  • Performs loading, unloading, casepicking, barcoding, and palletizer operations safely and efficiently.
  • Ensures accurate documentation and follows all process procedures/guidelines for loading/unloading operations.
  • Assures trailers are loaded to meet weight requirements.
  • Ensures all shipping/receiving office documentation is accurate and databases are maintained with timely entries.
  • Assures BOLs are signed/dated by the Common Carrier Driver and the Clerk during the shift.
  • Maintains proper FIFO of finished products and FEFO of raw materials.
  • May operate a forklift truck with a push-pull attachment.
  • Stores, picks, or assembles raw materials in the warehouse, verifying commodity number, quantity, release status, and lot number.
  • Checks materials against packaging lists, invoices, freight bills, or other pertinent documentation to assure conformity and accuracy.
  • Delivers materials to production lines in a timely manner.
  • Maintains proper FEFO flow of raw materials.
  • Utilizes knowledge of both raw materials and finished product nomenclature.
  • Cleans up both raw material and finished goods warehouse areas.
  • Accountable for personal safety and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Communicates safety and GMP concerns to Plant Material Control/Columbus Distribution Center leadership and follows up to assure concerns are addressed.
  • Accountable for performing tasks that need to be completed in a timely manner or need expedited.
  • Checks email at the start of each shift to assure all directives are addressed.
  • Communicates to all shifts regarding the status of the business.
  • Makes decisions based on awareness of the area operations.
  • Complies with applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA, and Abbott Nutritional Supply Chain regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
