About The Position

The Warehouse Forklift Driver is responsible for performing various warehouse duties, including operating a lift truck, performing routine inspections and maintenance on equipment, and moving materials between different areas. This role also involves functions within material handling categories such as Receiving, Staging/Order Picking, and Truck Loading. The position requires adherence to safety standards, reliable attendance, and the ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • One (1) to two (2) years related experience in warehouse environment.
  • Basic scanner technology.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work required schedule and arrive at work on time.
  • Ability and willingness to work the voluntary/mandatory overtime that is required during all busy seasons.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (in writing and verbally) in a courteous and professional manner with others.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to identify and compare letters and numbers.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, co-workers and management.
  • Ability to maintain a level of production that meets or established guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently without interruptions.
  • Ability to complete necessary paperwork neatly and accurately and according to established guidelines.
  • Properly count, document or scan the number of units as needed by the function that is being performed.
  • Ability to verify paperwork necessary to ensure customer is receiving correct product.
  • Ability to inspect condition of product received and product going out to ensure quality.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Operates a lift truck by driving backwards and twisting to be able to look in the direction of travel on a continual basis.
  • Operates a lift truck all shift.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning or recharging batteries, and refer defects or repairs to supervisor/maintenance.
  • Moves controls to drive lift trucks and transport materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas.
  • Moves levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
  • Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
  • Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment.
  • Reliable attendance for scheduled shifts.
  • Unloads products from tractor-trailers and rail containers (manually and with equipment).
  • Verifies product received is identified and counted accurately.
  • Inspects condition of received product, remove damaged or non-conforming products.
  • Scans pallet barcode using RF equipment.
  • Moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location using heavy equipment.
  • Receives and evaluates printed order for order selection and preparation requirements.
  • Fills orders by accurately picking product from storage areas utilizing pre-determined product stacking guidelines.
  • Uses scanning device and computer as needed to ensure order accuracy.
  • Corrects shortages, over-counts and incorrect batch codes as needed.
  • Moves products from staging areas and/or directly from storage into trailer.
  • Inspects trucks for quality and sanitary requirements.
  • Verifies markings, trailer numbers, and shipping documents.
  • Fills truck using designated loading patterns and guidelines.
  • Properly secures the load for travel.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
