About The Position

This role is responsible for operating a lift truck to transport materials between various warehouse areas, performing routine inspections and maintenance on equipment, and ensuring adherence to safety and security standards. The position involves both manual and equipment-assisted loading and unloading of products, accurate counting and verification of goods, and processing of defective products. The job also requires learning and demonstrating proficiency in multiple material handler functional categories, including receiving, staging/order picking, and truck loading.

Requirements

Ability to perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
Ability to operate a lift truck all shift.
Ability to perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment.
Ability to move controls to drive lift trucks and transport materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas.
Ability to move levers and controls that operate lifting devices.
Ability to position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
Ability to manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
Ability to unload products from tractor-trailers and rail containers (manually and with equipment).
Ability to verify product received is identified and counted accurately.
Ability to inspect condition of received product, remove damaged or non-conforming products.
Ability to process defective product as per standard operating procedure.
Ability to scan pallet barcode using RF equipment.
Ability to move and place product safely and securely in its proper storage location using heavy equipment.
Ability to receive and evaluate printed order for order selection and preparation requirements.
Ability to fill orders by accurately picking product from storage areas utilizing pre-determined product stacking guidelines.
Ability to use scanning device and computer as needed to ensure order accuracy.
Ability to correct shortages, over-counts and incorrect batch codes as needed.
Ability to move products from staging areas and/or directly from storage into trailer.
Ability to inspect trucks for quality and sanitary requirements.
Ability to verify markings, trailer numbers, and shipping documents.
Ability to fill truck using designated loading patterns and guidelines.
Ability to properly secure the load for travel.
Reliable attendance for scheduled shifts.
Ability to work required schedule and arrive at work on time.
Ability and willingness to work the voluntary/mandatory overtime that is required during all busy seasons.
Ability to effectively communicate (in writing and verbally) in a courteous and professional manner with others.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction.
Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
Ability to identify and compare letters and numbers.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence.

Basic scanner technology.
Valid State Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

Moves levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
Unloads products from tractor-trailers and rail containers (manually and with equipment).
