About The Position

The Alameda Food Bank's team of eight (8) full-time dedicated team members and over 800 passionate community volunteers is seeking a Warehouse Coordinator passionate about using their skills to help solve the problem of food insecurity in our community. The Warehouse Coordinator assists the Warehouse Manager in most aspects of the warehouse and food inventory operation. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the position assists in the successful receipt, transport, and storage of inventory and is responsible for ensuring high standards of sanitation. The Warehouse Coordinator supports the Programs Team by supervising and training onsite Food Bank volunteers in the collection, sorting, and distribution of food to clients.

Requirements

  • At least one (1) year experience as forklift operator with current certification.
  • At least three (3) years driving experience with valid California Class C driver’s license with insurable driving record and demonstrable skills operating Sprinter size or larger vehicles.
  • Accurate, detail-oriented, and punctual.
  • Demonstrable mathematical and writing skills.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency to read and respond to email communications, as well as enter data into inventory management or database systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary to provide customer service to shoppers, public and volunteers.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work well in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to occasionally work early morning, evening, or weekend hours with advanced notice.
  • Ability to comply with soft PTO blackout policy during AFB’s peak season (November 1st through January 15th).
  • Able to perform physical tasks including bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, stooping, and reaching above shoulder height to moving product and equipment more than 60 lbs.
  • Able to work in a warehouse environment with temperatures ranging from minus 2 degrees to above 90 degrees.
  • Able to traverse the warehouse floor frequently throughout the day to execute duties.
  • Able to stand/sit for duration of scheduled shift.
  • Mobility to respond to moving vehicles, equipment, and loud noises/sounds typical in a warehouse setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a warehouse with food or perishable commodities, preferably in large scale operations and/or food store.
  • Food Banking experience a plus.
  • ServSafe certified or ability to earn certification within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • One (1) year experience building pallets and preparing for transport.
  • Previous volunteer-management experience.
  • Bilingual in Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish or Vietnamese.

Responsibilities
