Requirements

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, local driving laws, DOT, and FMCSA regulations.
  • Ability to drive safely and obey and adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate and follow directions in English.
  • Effectively use GPS, cell phone and hands-free equipment while driving, read maps, and follow directions.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; or two years commercial driving experience; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid CDL B License with acceptable driving record.
  • Current DOT medical certificate.
  • Ability to pass operator exam and drive powered industrial equipment.
  • Pass substance abuse screening.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service and help create a positive customer experience.
  • Safely operate company vehicles to complete local deliveries in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Understand delivery routes, warehouse layout, yard organization, and product locations.
  • Receive, unload, inspect, and verify incoming materials for accuracy and damage.
  • Stock and organize products in the appropriate warehouse or yard locations.
  • Pull, package, stage, and prepare customer orders for shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
  • Verify orders and inventory to help prevent shipping, receiving, and delivery errors.
  • Clearly label products for customer pick-up and delivery.
  • Assist customers with loading and unloading materials as needed.
  • Secure loads properly to prevent damage or loss during transport.
  • Handle materials, products, and equipment with care and attention to safety.
  • Complete driver logs, inspection reports, delivery paperwork, and receiving documentation accurately.
  • Follow all DOT, FMCSA, federal, state, and local driving regulations, including pre-trip inspections.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and monitor fluid levels, tire pressure, and general vehicle condition.
  • Use tarps and protective coverings during poor weather conditions when needed.
  • Report shipping discrepancies, shortages, or damaged materials according to company procedures.
  • Scan, file, and maintain receiving and freight documentation.
  • Assist customers at the service counter when needed.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and yard environment.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
